I can see 20/20 today and it will probably even get a little better. I got to video tape the procedure but I haven't watched it yet. For those of you that want to hear the process I will explain my experience here:
Thursday I had a battery of testing done. They actually did an ultrasound of my eyeball directly ON the eyeball. I had numbing drops, of course. It was really weird. They did the pressure test, took measurements, read charts, and looked through two very psychadelic machines that scanned my eye surfaces. My left eye came out at -7.75 and right was -8.00. Both have slight astigmatisms. For those of you that don't know eye numbers, lets just say mine are BAD.
Arrived at 8:45 on friday morning. My friend Shannon drove me (it was an hour away). Her dh stayed home with her infant and my dh stayed home with Ileigh. My mom was in charge of Austin and of course to complicate things, he only had a half day.We sat in what I thought was a creepy waiting room. It did have a tv though so that your lucky guest can watch your soon to be torture. lol. Then I got called back for MORE measurements. Arghh. I really wanted to get it over with. Then I was sent to pay my balance (4,300). Yikes! I put it on my Target card. Then the girl called me back to redo my left eye measurements. Not sure why but she said they came out the same.
Finally, I was given a valium and left to rest. Two minutes later they said they were ready for me. I got up and then they said nevermind they were taking someone else first. (I think what happened is the guy before me freaked out and then decided to try again). I was glad because I needed time to valium-ate. LOL.
About 15 minutes later they led me to a room and although relaxed, I was cold and shaking uncontrollably. They held my hand and placed this contraption on my eyes. It was like swim gogles that go inside your eyelids. When they press them down tight, your vision goes dark. It kindof pops your eyes forward so the laser can get closer to your cornea's. When the laser cut the flap off my cornea, all I could see was darkness and some speckled red lights every now and then. It was like a ton of pressure but the most uncomfortable thing was the gogle contraption. It was giving me shooting pains towards the back of my head. Then, while doing the left eye, they suddenly stopped and pulled me away. They had to change a "cone" on the machine that they thought had "condensation" on it. Then they pressed the gogle onto my eye AGAIN which was very uncomfortable and then they re-did the left cut.
Next they told me was the easy part. I went to a different room where the actual lasik laser was. I layed down and they held my eyelids open with tape and a device that reminded me of an eyelash curler. They calibrated the machine and then the dr. had to lift up my eyeball flaps. That was odd. It didn't hurt though. Then I was instructed to stare hard into the laser. Since my eyes are so bad, I had a longer time under there (about a minute). I was so worried I would look away and mess up my eyes forever. That was probably the hardest part. I had to keep my composure. They kept telling me I was the best patient of the day. I said Yeah, right.. you tell everyone that! They laughed and said no really, they had been having a hard time getting people to relax and cooperate.
They taped sheilds to my eyes and sent me home with 6 different drops I have to use (some of them I had to pay $100 for). I also was given 2 more valium (that stuff is good), to help me sleep the rest of the day. I couldn't see right away, everything was fuzzy and still is kindof.
Andy had to go to his sister's graduation last night so I was all alone. I mostly slept and listened to The Da Vinci Code on tape. My eyes are very sore but not bad at all. I am sooo glad I had it done because life is already easier. Overall, the procedure was easier than I thought too. YAY!
One more thing I have to share is that Ileigh has gone to sleep with a cup and no bottle three times now!

I feel sick just reading that!
So glad you can see now! Your vision is the same as mine too, that's my exact contact prescription, same eyes even! I'm sure I'll do Lasik some day, so I'm really glad it turned out so well for you!
As for the being terrified to move thing, I've had different laser eye surgery before and felt the same both times. I was terrified that I would move my eyes a bit and end up blind.
