The Birthday is Over...

Well, my baby is officially a ONE YEAR old now. All the baby things are packed away. The bouncy seat, swing, bassinette, and infant clothes are all taking up their significant space in our garage now. Of course, we have to save everything. And when we are really for sure completely done having kids, well, we will probably have to save it then too.
The prospect of having more kids... hmm. If we have a girl, that will be great! We can use Ileigh's cute clothes again.. and Ileigh will have the (cross your fingers) sisterly love I share with my two loving sisters. Yet I will be sad that 1) Andy doesn't have a little andy around 2) Austin doesn't have a lil bro to teach baseball to and throw in the pool occasionally and 3) Austin's clothes which I have saved (taking up significant space in the garage) for going on ELEVEN years now will stay in their boxes forever.
My family, of course, thinks this ambivalence strongly suggests that (insert permanent form of birth control here) is in immediate order. I, of course, think this is a sign to keep on having as many babies as I please until all of my woes and dreams are satisfied.

Ha Ha. I'm not that crazy. Just sentimental I guess.

The next dilema is WHEN to give Ileigh a sibling. I cannot tell you how many times a day I change my mind about this. Most level headed people say to wait until she is older. The arguments against this are as follows.. 1) we would like to get the baby stage out of the way so we can get our lives back. We do not want Ileigh to finally be able to be separate from us for a night, and have to start all over with an infant. 2) we want the kids to be playmates. Of course, we know that this entirely depends on the child's personality. It is still more likely they will be in to the same sorts of things being close in age. 3) we make more space in our garage sooner 4) I go back to work full time sooner and start making more money 5) we have heard that even though it sucks at first, having them close in age in the long run, is nice on all accounts.

I have read all kinds of articles on the web about the pros and cons of child spacing. What does all this debating lead to? Well, we still don't know.
